CANON OF RELEVANT SUCCESSION

The succession of the characteristics in the associated scheme of characteristics should be relevant to the purpose of classification

EXAMPLES:
1),DECIMAL CLASIFICATION
In DC, Language, Form , Period and Author are the three characteristics used in classifying the universe of subjects going with the main class literature. There are six different succession in which these three characteristics can be used. But DC has rightly chosen the succession: Language, form, period, and Work as most relevant to the purpose of classification of books –which is the convenience of the readers.
2), COLON CLASSIFICATION
a) In, CC, Language, Form, Author, and Work, are the four characteristics used in classifying the same universe of subjects. Out of twenty-four succession possible, CC has rightly chosen the succession: language, Form, Author, and Work as most relevant. The implications of the choice in shelf arrangement are fully discussed in the CC
b) Substance and Problem are two characteristics used in classifying the universe of subject going with the main class Chemistry, In Ed 1(1933) the succession prescribed for these characteristics was: Problem, Substance, While doping reference service on floor duty , it was found that this succession did not give the satisfaction to readers In other words , it was not relevant to the purpose of the readers, Therefore, their succession was changed into Substance, Problem, in Ed 2(1939)

The Self and The Not Self

The self and the not self is one of the messages derived from Upanishads.

The universe of our experience according to Vedanta, consists of the two categories of the not self and self. “Yusmadasmatpratyayagocara”, in the words of sankara (Introduction to brahma sutra commentary) vidya or knowledge referes to the knowledge of the self, the changeless reality, the “Amartyam” yeth “avidya” or ignorance refers to the knowledge of the not self the changeful universe, the “Martyam”. The self and the not self are not two, but one, “Almaiveclan Sarvam”, “The self alone is all this: says the ‘chandogya Upanishad”.

Man is aware, since his birth, of only one of these categories, namely, the world of the not self. He plunges into this world, and handles it gets headed by it, till death takes him away. He handles it himself, in his daily life, in his education, in his science and his social pursuits. He builds up structures of knowledge, scientific and philosophical, to explain to himself its nature and mystery. This knowledge under the best of circumstances enable him to steer his life back in the ocean of existence with a measure of success, and leaves him under the worst of circumstances, a wreck in its turbulent water. In either case, whether in success or in failure, he remains baffled by its mystery and ignorant of its true nature.

“Body is cleaned by water, Intellect by wisdom, mind by truth and the self by non-violance.”

Tension

The Moment you are in Tension.
You will lose your Attention.
Then you are in total Confusion.
And you will feel Irritation.
Then you will spoil your Personal Relation.
Ultimately, you won't get Co-operation.
Then arises Complication.
Then your B.P. may give Caution.
And you may have to take Medication.
Instead, understand the Situation.
And try to think about the Solution.
Many problems will be solved by Discussion.
Which will work out better in your Profession.
Don't think its our free Suggestion.
It is only for Prevention.
You will never ever have Tension.

Teachers A Nation Builders

The role of teachers is to shape the minds of the younger generation on positive lines like development of a scienetific and humanistic attitude such as good temper, self discipline, concern for other people. A firm conviction that democracy thrives on its tolerance and firm commitment, to break wits and not to break heads.

A teacher should not only instruct but also should inspire the students. He or she has to influence the life and character of his or her students and equip them with ideas and values which inturn will make them fit to enter the stream of national life as worthy citizens.

Increase of knowledge builds confidence, so the teachers should guide students to gain knowledge. In ancient India, teachers were given high status and were called Gurus. The word "Guru" has got a wide reference- one who opens the eyes and minds of the child to the world of knowledge.

In the course of teaching, teachers should enlighten their students with the noble sayings of great people, "with a good art of teaching young students, a better society can emerge tomorrow. Todays well taught students are tomorrows best citizens.

" The world is a mirror, laugh before it and it laughs back at you, weep before it and weeps back at you."
- Shakespere.

" THE NEED FOR A GOOD LIBRARY"

Every field of knowledge now a days is becoming vast. Books are one of the most important source of knowledge, Milton said " A good book is the precious life blood of a master spirit". The spirit of the author lives through his book. From books any number of persons can get knowledge at a time. They are a medium of exchange of ideas knowledge and information.

Bacon said, "Reading makes a full man". The horizon of one's experiences widens with the increase in his reading, But how to get books and read them. To supply books to the individuals a library is needed. Every school and college needs a library. It is necessary for both pupils and teachers. Even the general public needs a library. So, there is a great great need for good libraries.

A good library contains sufficient number of good books. Every book is not worth preserving. Only the good books should be placed in library. They must be easily available to the readers. There is need for both open shelf libraries and lending libraries. A good library is a treasure house of knowledge and experiences. Some pupils find it difficult to read at home for want of privacy. They can go to the library and read there. A library develops reading habits. This leads to achievements in their future life. Hence the need for a good library."
